The Information Technology department is responsible for all of the campus telephone infrastructure. We have installed over 18,500 feet of telephone copper feeder cables (ranging from 100 pair to 1800 pair) for our Voice network backbone. These backbone cables were installed throughout the campus's 7,600 plus feet. of Duct Banks and 6,100 feet. of Steam Tunnels. The telephone feeder cables start in the Campus's Central Switch Room, which houses the AVAYA Definity Enterprise Communications Switch and feed throughout the campus's 36 buildings providing dial-tone.
Telephone Services includes billing, voice mail, fax numbers, modem numbers, phone operations and setup for the entire NDSCS Campus. Voice Mail: Voice mail is automatically on all campus phones. Voice mail has prompts advising you what options are available at every step of a task, it also gives the date, length of call, and the time the call was received. Once you have selected the appropriate Activity Menu Option, you can rely solely on the voice prompts to figure out what to do next. You can check your voice mail from any touch tone phone on campus or off. To check your voice mail: To access your voice mail from any campus phone, dial 3-4900, at the prompt enter "3" plus the last four digits of your telephone number, then press the "#" key.
