Test Center

Academic Services Center provides proctoring for online testing and an alternative testing site for students who qualify. The Test Center is located in the Mildred Johnson Library in Room 222. 

Please see the Testing Center Guidelines for instructors and students prior to requesting test services. Faculty requesting testing services must fill out the Test Instruction Sheet for each test. All testing information, such as passwords or any changes, should be sent to the Test Center’s email address: NDSCS.TestCenter@ndscs.edu.

Guidelines for Instructors

Test Center Instruction Form is a Microsoft Excel File. Click in each yellow box to fill out the form. All other cells are protected. If you have questions about this form, please call Linda at 701-671-2441.
  • The instructor can hand deliver or send the test via intercampus mail or e-mail to NDSCS.TestCenter@ndscs.edu.
     
  • Any test that is sent to the Test Center with a student must be placed in a sealed envelope and Karen Dahlgren, 671-2256, or Linda Fink, 671-2441, should be notified.
     
  • Students are required to show a picture ID to test. Test left in the Test Center will be shredded after 7-10 days.
     
  • If you are sending a test for a student who has an accommodation for audio testing, please send to the Test Center 48 hours before the test needs to be given.
     
  • Test Center Hours of Operation:
    - Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
    - Monday and Wednesday: 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
    - Please note that if classes are not in session, the Test Center is closed. Please check Campus Calendar for dates.
The Test Center is not designed to test an entire class. Please check with Karen Dahlgren or Linda Fink before sending large numbers of student to test.





Guidelines for Students

  • Students are responsible to talk to their instructors about the need for testing arrangements and/or accommodations at the Test Center.
     
  • Students need to remind the instructor two days before a test is sent or brought over to the Test Center.
     
  • Students must show a picture ID to test.
     
  • Students must be on time and must complete the test at one sitting based on the instructions allotted time.
     
  • Tests should be taken during the student's scheduled class hours, unless special arrangements have been made in advance with the instructor. If you have any concerns or questions, please e-mail Karen Dahlgren or Linda Fink.

COMPASS Testing

The Academic Services Center provides COMPASS testing, required placement testing on a daily basis, appointments are required for testing.

GED - General Educational Development

The GED Tests are designed to provide an opportunity for adults who have not graduated from high school to earn their jurisdictions’ high school-level educational diploma by measuring the major academic skills and knowledge associated with a high school program of study that graduating seniors should know and be able to do, with increased emphasis on workplace and higher education.

GED Tests are given throughout the year by appointment.

A fee of $100.00 is payable to NDSCS on the day of the test.

Preparations for GED Tests are offered at the Adult Learning Center, at NDSCS Riley Hall, Room 118, Wahpeton, ND.

Hours:
  • Monday - 9 a.m. - 12 noon; 2 - 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday - 9 a.m. - 12 noon; 2 - 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday - 9 - 12 noon; 2 - 4 p.m.
  • Thursday - 9 - 12 noon; 2 - 7 p.m.

Online testing

The NDSCS Test Center will proctor tests free for all NDSCS online students. Students from other institution will be charged a fee of $5 per test or $20 per semester, per class.

ACT- American College Testing

The ACT is an assessment tool for college placement for high school and college students. The test helps to identify students who are ready for entry-level college courses, students who need basic skills remediation, and students who may be exempt from particular courses.

Pre-registration with ACT is required. ACT encourages students to register online or students may fill out a registration packet. For a registration packet, contact Karen Dahlgren at 701-671-2256 or Karen.Dahlgren@ndscs.edu with your name and address and a packet will be mailed to you.

Testing dates and times are listed on the ACT online registration Web site.






ASE - Automotive Service Excellence

The ASE assessment is given during fall and spring semesters of each year to individuals needing certification for automotive, medium/heavy truck, truck equipment, school bus, transit bus, and collision repair/refinish technicians as well as engine machinists, collision damage estimators, service consultants and parts specialists.

Pre-registration with ASE is required. For registration booklets, contact Karen Dahlgren 701-671-2256. Individuals may also register online with the ACT/ASE Testing Web site.

DAT - Differential Aptitude Test

The DAT assessment is given throughout the year by appointment for students applying for the John Deere Ag Tech program. Students requesting to take this test should contact Karen Dahlgren at 701-671-2256 or Karen.Dahlgren@ndscs.edu.

If the student prefers, this test can be mailed to their high school counselor to administer.






SAT - Scholastic Aptitude Test

The SAT is an assessment tool for college placement for incoming and continuing students and helps to identify students who are ready for entry-level college courses, students who need basic skills remediation, and students who may be exempt from particular courses.

Students are required to register online at SAT Test online.

Students are required to report to Mildred Johnson Library, second floor, room 226, a minimum of 30 minutes prior to testing time. Test facilitators are Maria Kaduc at 701-671-2616 or Maria.Kaduc@ndscs.edu and Linda Fink at 701-671-2441 or Linda.Fink@ndscs.edu.





TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language

The TOEFL test is the most widely accepted academic English proficiency exam in the world. It provides fair, unbiased scores that help more than 6,000 institutions and organizations in 110 countries make the best possible decision about a student’s ability to communicate in an academic setting. Students are required to register online: TOEFL Web site.

Students are required to report to Mildred Johnson Library, second floor, room 222, a minimum of 30 minutes prior to testing time.
