InterLibrary Loans - Books from Other LibrariesLibrary staff can order books or photocopies of articles through the InterLibrary Loan system, if the items are not available from this library.
- The ODIN system and others in North Dakota will share books and articles. These items may be requested through the ODIN catalog or by a written request to the Library.
- Items not available in North Dakota may be available through MINITEX region, which includes Minnesota and South Dakota as well as North Dakota. Library staff will order these on request.
- The Library staff may also search through the OCLC system to order items nationally or internationally.
Any patron who has a valid library card may request materials through ILL. Some items may not be lent by another library, such as rare or valuable items, bulky or fragile items, some reference materials, reserved materials, and entire issues or volumes of periodicals. Items already owned by Mildred Johnson Library will be requested on hold rather than through ILL.
The lending library in each case makes the decision as to length of loan, any fines, or if the item will be loaned. Items can occasionally be renewed but are subject to recall by the lending library.
For information or assistance with InterLibrary Loan, please call the library at 701-671-2618. You may also e-mail Karen.Chobot@ndscs.edu or download an ILL Request Form to print out and return to the library.

Course ReservesInstructors may place materials within the library in a special collection called Reserves. These are materials that a instructor may ask you to use for a class without having to purchase them (i.e. books, photocopies, videos, etc.)

Technical ServicesThe Technical Services Department of Mildred Johnson Library manages collection development, acquisitions, and maintenance of the database that supports the online catalog. It is this department's responsibility to acquire, catalog, and process materials for patron use in a timely manner. The library uses the Dewey Decimal Classification system and the Library of Congress Subject Headings. The collection is developed to support the evolving instructional programs at NDSCS. In procuring materials, freedom of academic inquiry will not in any way be violated. Input and requests from all patrons are encouraged. Resources that are obtained include print and non-print.
If you would like the library to acquire a book you feel would be beneficial to the collection, click on the Book Request Form below.
