Basic Regulations of Conduct
The policies and standards for students at the North Dakota State College of Science are considered to be a minimal code of behavior for students whose individual and collective goal is the pursuit of excellence in their chosen areas. Any student who has questions relative to college regulations should always feel free to discuss the matter with a member of the Student Support Services staff. NDSCS seeks to keep its rules for personal and social conduct to a minimum because most students are rational, intelligent beings with an adult concept of the law who can conduct their daily lives within the spirit as well as the letter of the law. However, this institution believes a few basic regulations are necessary to serve the needs of a college community.
1. A student is expected to conduct himself or herself at all times according to standards of good taste and citizenship. Failure to show proper respect for the rights of others, immorality or insubordination toward a college official in the proper execution of his or her duties will be regarded as cause for a student to be considered for disciplinary action through the college judicial system.
2. A student is subject to disciplinary action for commission of a crime on campus.
3. A student who has failed to discharge a just financial obligation to the college is subject to suspension pending settlement of the obligation. When a student leaves NDSCS without fulfilling his or her obligation, that student will be denied a transcript of his or her grades and/or refused future registration in the college.
4. A student who furnishes false or misleading information on admission, registration, student ID or any other forms, or who alters college records, is subject to disciplinary action.
5. All NDSCS students are required to possess a valid student ID card.
6. A student who willfully damages or removes college property or who obstructs the normal operation of the college is subject to disciplinary action or arrest and is responsible for payment of all damages.
7. The possession of keys to a college building by unauthorized persons is strictly forbidden. The duplication of keys issued to a student is prohibited.
8. The use or possession by students of intoxicating liquors, other alcoholic beverages and non-prescribed drugs is not permitted on campus at any time.
9. Dishonesty in class, laboratory, shop work or tests is regarded as a serious offense and is subject to disciplinary action by the instructor and dean of the respective division.
10. Other conduct which may result in disciplinary action includes conduct in which a student endangers or seriously threatens the life or physical safety of others, himself or herself; leads or participates in destructive group action; commits a crime off-campus, the nature of which indicates the student constitutes a threat to the safety of others or to property, including, but not limited to, sexual offenses or other assaults, violation or failure to conform to any applicable Board of Higher Education or institution policies or directives; or conduct that interferes with efficient administration of the college.
It is assumed any student who enrolls at NDSCS is aware of the above expectations and responsibilities, and he or she will always abide by those realistic standards of achievement and citizenship that are conducive to self growth and to the growth of the college. However, should any student be charged with an infraction of the rules and regulations that warrants specific action, the following procedures shall be followed:
