WAHPETON, N.D. (February 10, 2009) The North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) womens basketball team went into the locker room up 39-18 over Dawson Community College at halftime and expanded on their lead as the game went on. There were no lead changes and no ties after tipoff.
Alyssa Larson led the Lady Wildcats with 10 points. She was the lone double-digit scorer in a balanced effort. Cristin Hasse scored nine points and a quartet of Lady Wildcat players chipped in eight. Ashlynn Fuller was 4-8 from the field, Dawnelle Askelson was 4-6 and had five rebounds, Megan Groen was 4-8, and Alicia Stensgard scored eight points as well. Leading the team in rebounds was Brittany Mayclin with six. The leader for Dawson was Alanya Three Irons with 13 points.
For the game, NDSCS shot 50% overall, including 52% in the second half. They were 2-12 from three, and 8-16 from the line. Dawson was 14-44 for 32% from the field. They were 0-8 from three and 10-19 from the line. DCC was forced into 22 turnovers and out-rebounded 41-29.
NDSCS improved to 14-11 overall and 6-5 in conference play. They will return to action when they will host Minot State University Bottineau on Wednesday at the Ed Werre Arena in the Clair T. Blikre Activities Center at 6:00 p.m.
