WAHPETON, N.D. – Despite a career high 23 points from Ashlynn Fuller the North Dakota State College of Science Lady Wildcats fell 58-54 to the Lady Lumberjacks of Minot State – Bottineau on Wednesday evening.
Fuller shot 9-12 from the field and 5-5 from the line in the loss. Megan Groen was the only other double figure scorer for the Lady Wildcats with 10 points and five rebounds. Alyssa Larson led the team with seven rebounds, while Brittany Mayclin and Alicia Stensgard added six each. Shayla Johnson and Larson led the team with three steals apiece. Leading the Lady Jacks was Brittany Westman with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Neither team shot the ball well on the evening. NDSCS shot 36% overall, including 26% in the first half. They were 1-10 from three for the game. They also hit 11-19 from the charity stripe. MSU-Bottineau shot 39% from the field, including 4-20 from three and 14-24 from the line. Each team recorded 23 turnovers for the game. The Lady Cats did win the boards by a margin of 40-39, including 16-13 on the offensive boards. NDSCS bench did a nice job overall going for 30 points.
NDSCS fell to 14-11 on the season and 6-5 in the Mon-Dak. They are in action on Sunday when they host United Tribes Technical College in a game set for a 2:00 PM tipoff.
