Lady Wildcats Fall at Iowa Western

WAHPETON, N.D. – (February 20, 2009) – Iowa Western Community College used a 13-point halftime lead for a 69-54 win over the visiting Lady Wildcats on Wednesday evening. NDSCS was able to cut the lead to eight a number of times in the second half, however, as they gave the Lady Reivers all they wanted.

Brittany Mayclin led the way for NDSCS with 19 points on 8-13 shooting. She also grabbed four rebounds and had four steals. The only other double-figure scorer was Alicia Stensgard with 11 points and five rebounds. Ashlynn Fuller chipped in nine points, five assists, and six rebounds, as well as two steals. Leading IWCC was Kayla Williams with 19 points, including 5-7 from three.

NDSCS shot 42% for the game, including 5-16 from three. They were also 3-5 from the line. IWCC shot 51% for the game, including 8-16 from three. The biggest difference in the game was the free throws as IWCC attempted 16 more than the Lady Wildcats, hitting on 11-21. IWCC won the boards 31-30.

NDSCS dropped to 15-13 on the season. They will finish the regular season on Wednesday when they will travel to Devils Lake, N.D., to face Lake Region State College.
