NDSCS Wildcat men beat Southwestern Illinois College on Tuesday

HUTCHINSON, KANSAS - (March 17, 2009) - March Madness is in full swing for the NDSCS Wildcats. In a game that saw the momentum change for both teams many times, Coach Scott Schumacher's North Dakota State College of Science Wildcat basketball team had the final momentum swing and edged out the Blue Storm 50-49 in the last minutes of play. Southwestern Illinois College came to the tournament with at 31-2 record and was ranked No. 5 in the National Poll.

The Wildcats will go on to face No. 13 ranked Salt Lake Community College, Utah (28-6), the District 1 Champion, and Region 18 Champion on Wednesday, March 18 at 8 p.m. On Tuesday, Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) defeated Shelton State, Ala., 77-59, in their first round of play. The SLCC Bruins are making their third ever appearance at Hutchinson and their second straight appearance after finishing second last season. The Bruins at one point in the season were ranked in the top 10 for five straight weeks.
