HUTCHINSON, KANSAS--The Bruins of Salt Lake Community College, Salt Lake City, Utah, jumped out to an early lead over the North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats of Wahpeton, N.D., and never looked back. In what was a balanced scoring attack, the Bruins stood their ground throughout the game despite a Wildcat mini-run at the beginning of the second half. Salt Lake didn’t back down and gave the Cats just their third loss of season 91-55.
On Thursday, March 19, at 4:30 p.m. the Wildcats (31-3) go on to play Lamar Community College, Lamar, Colo. (25-11) (District 9 Champion, Region 9 Champion). A win on Thursday would place the Wildcats in a final Championship game for fifth place. A loss on Thursday would end the Wildcat run at nationals.
Lamar is just one of three teams that came into the national tournament with 10 losses or more. In the first round of the national tournament, Lamar defeated Cape Fear Community College 57-47 and lost in the second round to Chipola College 82-66.
Radio broadcast of the game begins at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 19. Listen live at www.ndscs.edu/athletics and on KBMW AM 1450.
