WAHPETON, N.D. (April 16, 2009) The NJCAA announced their All-American award winners for the 2008-2009 mens basketball season and it included two North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) Wildcat players.
Named to the first team is sophomore Ridge McKeither. The 65 Danville, Va., forward led the Wildcats in points, rebounds, assists and blocks. For the season, he averaged 17.6 points, nine rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game. He also shot 55% from the field, as well as 67% from the free-throw line. McKeither was also named to the All-Region and All-Conference First Teams, as well as being named MVP of the Pre-Season Mon-Dak Conference Tournament.
Sophomore guard James Livingston was named Honorable Mention All-American this season. The 63 Trenton, N.J., native was third in scoring with 15 points per game, second in assists with 134 total, led the team in free-throw shooting at 80%, and averaged four rebounds per game. He shot 52% from the field and led the team with a 42% three-point average. Livingston was named to the All-Region and All-Conference First Teams, as well as being named to the Pre-Season Mon-Dak All-Tournament Team.
Sophomore Maurice Foster joined McKeither and Livingston on the All-Region and All-Conference teams as well. He finished with 15.9 points per game and 4.9 rebounds.
The Wildcats finished the year 31-4 overall, including 13-1 in conference play.
They also finished the season ranked 10th overall in national polls.
NDSCS is a two-year, comprehensive, residential college with its main campus located in Wahpeton, N.D., and a second site, referred to as the Skills and Technology Training Center, located in Fargo, N.D. NDSCS offers degrees, certificates, and diplomas in over 80 academic options in traditional career and technical studies as well as the liberal arts. The college also offers a variety of Distance Education courses. Approximately 95% of graduates from its technical programs find jobs in their chosen fields.
Unlike most two-year colleges, NDSCS boasts a university atmosphere for its students, complete with residence halls, 35 affiliated clubs and organizations, music groups, theater productions, intercollegiate athletics, intramural athletics, and numerous social activities.
