Cooperative Education

Cooperative Education offers students the opportunity to integrate career, social and personal development into the educational process. The cooperative education program allows students to integrate classroom study with a paid work experience related to their fields of study. It is recommended that a student has successfully completed one year of academic study.

So, how does this apply to the Electrical Technology Department?
We encourage all of our students to take advantage of the Cooperative Education opportunity if at all possible. The experience gained by working in the industry during the summer months between the freshman and sophomore year has proven to be a valuable asset when the student returns to class in the fall. Not only does the co-op student gain an appreciation for the type of work he or she will be expected to perform in future years, but the majority of our co-op opportunities offer financial rewards greater than those that may be expected from other part time summer employment.
