NDSCS College Catalog |
Graduates of the Electrical Technology program can complete a major in Electronics Technology, typically completed in one year, by taking the courses listed.
The Electronics Technology program prepares each student for employment in the electronics field by providing the practical and technical knowledge, plus hands-on skills, to become successfully employed as a field service technician, systems technician, instrumentation technician, engineering technician or communications technician. As the world becomes more dependent on electronics, more electronic employment opportunities arise.
The Electronics Technology program provides a broadbased background in basic electronics, electronic communications, industrial electronics, instrumentation and computer technology, leading toward A+ certification. The courses contain both theoretical concepts and extensive laboratory exercises.
An optional Summer Session taken after the first or second year includes classes in the instrumentation area including process measurement and control.
Troubleshooting exercises are contained in all electronic labs where students learn the techniques required to repair electronic equipment and to properly use test equipment. Computers are used extensively to simulate the circuits discussed in class and built in the laboratory. These simulations are intended to provide the student with a better understanding of the operation of the circuits.
For additional information, please visit the Electronics Technology Web site or call the Electronics Department at: 1-800-342-4325, ext. 3-2315.
NOTE: This program requires the purchase of a notebook computer. The cost will be approximately $2,000 with several purchase or lease options available. For further information, call the Electronics Technology Department at (701) 671-2315.
