Students enrolled in NDSCS online classes will receive an auto-email from the eCollege system with general information and a class Login ID and Password at the bottom of the email. (Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the email for the Login ID/Password so you don't miss it.)
Online classes follow the NDSCS Academic Calendar for start and end dates and final days to add and drop classes. They also follow NDSCS and SBHE fee payment and refund schedules. You may find this information on the NDSCS Web site at:
On the first day of the semester, you can log into your class at NDSCS Online through the "Quick Login" box (lower left corner). Enter your online class Login ID and Password and click "go to class." At the next page you will see class titles as hyperlinks. Click the title to enter the class.
Prior to the start of the semester, you will be able to log into the site but you will not have access to the class content before the first day of the semester.
Login Help - If you don't remember your online class Login and Password, you can have it emailed to you by completing the form the Login Help Request form.
Online Orientation - If you have never taken an NDSCS online class, you will be enrolled into an online orientation class. These classes are taught before the semester starts and also the first week of the semester for last-minute registrations. The class is led by an instructor and there are various assignments you will do using the class tools to be sure you can successfully navigate the online environment and also to be sure your computer and software are compatible with basic online class requirements.
You will receive an email from your orientation instructor the week before your session begins. The orientation class takes approximately five hours and is intended to be done within a week or less so you are done with it before you get too far into the regular semester class work. There is no fee for this orientation class.
Email Addresses - Students must have an email address entered in their PeopleSoft (CampusConnection) student record. Without this, the registration will not matriculate to the eCollege environment to get the online class Login ID and Password created for class access. You will still be registered for the class but will not be able to get into it to do your class work. NOTE: If you have a Hotmail account, your class login and password may be sent to your Trash/Junk box. If you don't get the login and password for class before the semester starts, contact Distance Education right away. It is recommended students set up an NDSCS email account to use for online classes. See instructions to get an NDSCS email account.
Once you have access to your online classes, be sure to keep you student information (email, phone, etc) updated in both PeopleSoft and eCollege. For help with this, you may contact Distance Education at 1-800-342-4325, ext 3-2347 or email us.
Contact Distance Education if you have questions about logging into your online classes or if you didn't receive the email with your Login and Password.
NDSCS Online classes are not self-paced. While students have access to their classes 24 hours a day, seven days a week, instructors do set due dates/deadlines for assignments and tests to be done and turned in. It is important for students to manage their time to log in frequently (at least a few times each week) and keep up with class assignment and announcements.
It is also vital for students to have access to a working computer at all times to avoid falling behind in class. Computers can have technical problems so be sure to have a back-up plan.
