coders are employed by hospitals, clinics, doctor's offices, health
maintenance organizations (HMOs), mental healthcare facilities,
and insurance companies.
There is
a high demand for medical coders and the field is listed as one
of the fastest occupations thru 2010 by the US
Department of Labor.
Placement
services are provided by the college for graduates from this program.

Services
The American
Health Information Management (AHIMA)
offers a voluntary entry-level coding credential examination, the
Certified Coding Associate (CCA). It is strongly recommended that
candidates have at least six months experience in a healthcare organization
applying ICD-9-CM and CPT coding conventions and guidelines, or
have completed either an AHIMA approved coding certificate program
or other formal coding training. |
