HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNICIAN PROGRAM

HIT ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Program Director with HIT Student


The applicants must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Helpful courses to prepare for this program are: computer literacy, English, anatomy, and medical terminology.

Upon successful completion of the required courses, students will be awarded an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Health Information Technician.

Upon completion of the program the graduates are eligible to take the national certification examination through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Successful completion of this examination results in the graduate being awarded the credentials, Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).

Expenses: Information on tuition and textbook/supplies/software costs can be found in the college catalog. The student is responsible for costs associated with the professional practice experience, including travel, meals, housing, and any health related screenings the practice site may require. Financial aid may be available.

Entrance Requirements: Typing speed of 35 wpm.

Graduates of this program may continue their education in a baccalaureate program for health information administration; or a related field.
