HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNICIAN PROGRAM

<HOME NDSCS> <HOME ALLIED HEALTH>
Offering Two Program Options

Every time health care personnel treat a patient, they record what they observed, and how the patient was treated medically. This record includes information the patient provides concerning their symptoms and medical history, the results of examinations, reports of x-rays and laboratory tests, diagnoses, and treatment plans. Health information technicians organize and evaluate these records for completeness and accuracy.

Filing Medical Files
Delivering quality healthcare depends on capturing accurate and timely medical data. Coding professionals fulfill this need as key players in the healthcare workplace. Coding is the transformation of verbal descriptions of diseases, injuries, and procedures into numeric or alphanumeric designations. The coding of health-related data permits access to medical records by diagnoses and procedures for use in clinical care, research, and education. Medical claims processing depends on accurate codes.
