Fees and Expenses
NDSCS is on the semester system. This means the student will pay major expenses at the beginning of each semester — September, January and June. Students enrolled in regular courses in both divisions will pay tuition fees.
The following list highlights estimated on-campus direct costs for 2007-08. For current tuition, fees, housing and dining plan costs, please contact the Enrollment Services office. These estimates are based on costs for 32 credits per year, tuition and fees, a single room and a 300 Dining Plan:

Minnesota residents must have an approved tuition reciprocity application for this rate. Without reciprocity application Minnesota students will be charged the non-resident rate.

The WUE states include Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The MSEP states include Kansas, Michigan, Missouri and Nebraska, Illinois and Wisconsin.

NOTE: Special course fees are averaged for all of the academic programs. The average amount for fees is $500 for all students. The remainder is tuition for an average of 16 credits each semester. This total also includes the assessment fee, student activity fee and the technology fee. The remainder is for tuition.
NOTE: For students living on or off-campus, financial aid is calculated using $4,868 for room and board. The most common arrangement is a double room ($1,530) with a 160 Dining Plan ($2,098) totaling $3,628. However, the $4,868 rate is for a single room ($2,140) with a 300 Dining Plan ($2,728). Other available dining plans include an 80 Dining Plan ($1,180) or a 225 Dining Plan ($2,180). All rates are for two semesters.

Out-of-state students who are dependents (claimed on a graduate’s most recent federal tax return) or spouses of graduates of NDUS institutions may qualify for a tuition rate equal to 150 percent of the resident rate, regardless of residency.
Students enrolled in John Deere and Caterpillar partnership programs qualify for the following tuition rates:
• Minnesota residents - Minnesota reciprocity rates apply.
• Other states - current North Dakota resident rates apply.
Students from states bordering North Dakota and all Canadian provinces, who live on-campus and take at least a 160 or 225 Dining Plan (or live in an on-campus apartment) will be assessed the net North Dakota rate.
