Full-Time Student
A full-time student (for Pell Grant purposes, one must register for at least 12 semester credits) is one who enrolls for 12 or more semester credits. The normal load for full-time students is 12 to 18 semester credits, depending on the program, not including activity credit. Students must have special permission to enroll in excess of the maximum credit hours except where more than 18 hours is required in a specific curriculum. A student desiring to have 12 or more semester credits recorded in a given semester will be considered a full-time student. A full-time student cannot, by taking examinations for credit, cause a reduction of status to a part-time student.
Summer Term
A full-time student for summer term is one who enrolls in six or more semester credits. Tuition and fee charges for the summer term will be based on a per semester credit charge. Since the summer is the equivalent of half a regular semester, a reasonable student load is no more than nine semester credits.
Part-Time Student
A part-time student is one who enrolls for less than 12 semester credits.
