NDSCS AQIP ACTION PROJECTS

1. Credit Enrollment: Are We Accessible? (2006-2009)

  • Determine how we modify our current practices in course offerings, scheduling, and delivery methods to become more accessible to an ever-increasing diverse population.
  • Create marketing strategies to target specific populations that will meet the employment needs of business and industry in ND and our region.
  • This project will include planning, budgeting, recruitment, and marketing.
  • Goal is to increase dual credit, headcount of 25-49 age group, and non-distance education credits.

2. Implement FYE course and intake advising model. (2007-09)

  • This project continues "Retention Strategies Designed for Impact" an AQIP project from exploration and planning in 2006-07 into the implementation phase.
  • It is a two-part approach to improving retention that involves implementing an FYE course as an institutional requirement and integrating in-take advisement with the current advising model.
  • A three-year incremental implementation of FYE as an institutional requirement will be accomplished through departmental integration, open enrollment and/or online courses with the first year occurring fall 2008.
  • In-take advising will be integrated with the current advisement model and will include providing information on college policies/practices and referral, assisting campus tour guides, and collaborating on the development of a new advisor manual.

3. Develop and implement the NDSCS Quality Improvement Plan. (December 2008)

  • This end result of this project is the development of an infrastructure that supports NDSCS's continuing quality improvement efforts.
  • The plan will contain training guidelines, types of training available, define roles and responsibilities, identify resources, identify expectations, identify a means of linking continuous improvement with other planning, identify methods of communication, and identify ways to celebrate successes.
  • Performance indicators will be identified that document results, such as improvement in employee satisfaction scores, improvement in student satisfaction scores, and improvement in communication scores using baseline data from existing surveys.
