Recruitment Considerations

Scope of Search
  • Internal: If there is a pool of regular employees appropriately qualified for transfer or promotion (including employees covered by Reduction in Force Policy, NDUS HR Policy, Section 24), the hiring official may request to advertise a vacant position internally for a minimum of one week, prior to initiating an external search. The procedures for internal searches will be the same as external searches. The Human Resources Office, in consultation with the President or designee will be responsible to determine whether a pool of appropriately qualified employees exists, otherwise:
  • Regional (for technical or paraprofessional positions) or local.
    Regional-Eastern North Dakota, Western Minnesota and Northeast South Dakota.
    Local - Richland and Wilkin Counties.

Recruitment Period  
  • At least 10 calendar days after position is posted; at least one full week after publication of last advertisement.
