Recruitment Considerations

Recruitment is a critical function for obtaining well-qualified employees and administering an effective equal opportunity employment program because increased diversity in the applicant pool is essential in order to increase the diversity of people actually employed. Appropriate and effective recruitment strategies vary with each position. The length of the recruitment period will also vary by position. Generally, the following guidelines apply:

Faculty/Dean/Director and above - Directors are generally identified as Officers of the Institution or 1000 Band placement
Scope of Search

Faculty exceptions to the national search requirement include: adjunct, lecturer, special appointment, and assistant coaches.

  • Director Level and above positions: regular payroll positions which are part-time, require only a local search.
Note: Expedited searches may be conducted for temporary positions where the start-up schedule precludes conducting a full-length search. In this instance, advertising may be limited to regional publications and the application period may be limited to fifteen (15) calendar days of active recruitment.
