Roles and Responsibilities - Administrative  
President

The individuals and departments involved in the recruitment and screening process are defined below:

President

The President of the North Dakota State College of Science is the FINAL HIRING AUTHORITY, and directly approves all senior level administrative and faculty positions. The President delegates this hiring authority as s/he deems necessary. All new employees must be approved for hire by the President and subsequently the appropriate administrative levels and the Human Resources Department prior to job offer.

Vice President

When the position reports directly to the Vice President, at a minimum, the President and Vice President will conduct the final interviews from a pre-determined number of unranked finalists, that have been forwarded by a search committee.

Dean/Director
  • When the position reports to Director/Dean, and falls within job category 2000 (faculty) or job family 0000, 1000 and in some cases 3000, at a minimum, the Vice President and the Dean/Director will conduct the final interviews from a pre-determined number of unranked finalists, that have been forwarded by a search committee.
  • For all other positions in the department, the Dean/Director must participate in the interview and will make a recommendation for hire to Vice President of Division.
 
Responsibilities of the Vice President/Dean/Director include:
  • Verify need for the position.
  • Verify availability of funds.
  • Initiate Request to Recruit Form.
  • In conjunction with Human Resources, determine media sources to advertise position.
  • Develop Screening Criteria or delegate to committee.
  • In conjunction with Human Resources, decide if there will be a specific closing date or if the position is open until filled.
  • Determine projected time lines for entire process.
  • Decide interviewing options with committee.
  • Forward the selection decision and/or recommendations to Vice President/President as outlined above.
