The mathematical problems of this course are related to the plumbing and pipe fitting trade, with emphasis being placed the development of useable skills in layout, measurement, and computation of pipe length. This course covers: math shorthand; formulas, square root, angle measure and conversion of length measures; allowances for threaded, copper, and plastic fittings; offset, diagonal, Rise or run; solving for 45 degree constants; three-pipe diagrams with 45 degree offsets; wye and tee wye assemblies; solving for 60 degree constants; solutions with 22 1/2 and 11 1/4 degree diagonals; cast iron pipe; assemblies with cast iron and tee-wyes; single and double loop; percent grade. drop, and run; offset in parallel; combination offsets; pipe length by layout; lead shower­ pan; rectangular tank liner, cylindrical stretchout and roof pitched; volume, pressure and capacities; ratio of pipe capacities and pipe sizing for plumbing; radiator size for total heat loss of a room; sizing of piping; estimating two-floor hours.
