This course provides a foundation of the basic knowledge and skills for the apprentice plumber. This course covers: safety; plumbing history; fitting specification; elementary sketch making and reading; gas and threaded pipe; American standard pipe thread; tools for threaded pipe; making up fittings; sewage disposal; public and private sewers; house sewers; calculating grade; grading pipe; main house traps; fresh air inlets; house drain; soil stacks; waste and vent stacks; loop and circuit vents; cleanouts and traps; fixture and grease traps; rain leaders; plastic pipe and fittings; clearing fixtures; SOVENT drainage systems; fastenings; fixture supports; soldering; copper tubing and fittings; roughing in; pressure reducing valves and bypass; principles of circulation; electric water heaters; thermostats; relief valved; sump pump; cross connections; welded pipe; fixture installation; faucets; duplex strainers; and trap and faucet connections.
