Moving Process
   
I. Objective  
A. Assist faculty and staff in the moving of their respective offices, classrooms and shop equipment and belongings.
   
II. Procedure  
A. Submit a Physical Plant Move Request form or call the Physical Plant office during normal campus hours at (701) 671-2313 with the specifics of your request to move.
B. A work order is generated. The Physical Plant Move and Setup Coordinator contacts requestor to determine specific needs.
   
III. Requesting Department Responsibilities  
A. Fax a Physical Plant Move Request form to (701) 671-2148 or schedule the move with the Physical Plant office at (701) 671-2313. Please allow the Physical Plant staff sufficient time to prepare and organize for a larger move.
B. Box materials and miscellaneous items from shelves, desk tops, walls, etc.
C. Disconnect computers, printers and associated equipment.
D. Obtain boxes for temporary storage of items (possible sources ...Central Stores, Duplicating, Bookstore).
E. If applicable, provide a diagram or arrangement of furniture.  
F. If possible, be present during the move into a new area.  
   
IV. Physical Plant Responsibilities  
A. Coordinator contacts the requestor to discuss needs in terms of placement of items as requested.
B. Provide all necessary dollies, equipment, vehicles, carts, etc.  
C. Provide labor.  
D. Prepare area to be moved into (i.e. clean carpet, desktops, drawers, shelving and repair and paint walls as needed).
E. Removal and installation of building doors if necessary.  
   
V. Miscellaneous notes  
A. The Physical Plant staff is not responsible for moving large equipment or equipment that requires specialized moving equipment.
B. The Physical Plant will assist faculty and staff in the hanging of pictures and miscellaneous items.
C. The requesting department should notify the Physical Plant of any concerns, damages or other problems that are incurred as a result of the move.
D. Desks may or may not need to be completely emptied out depending on the moving requirement and space limitations. In extreme cases, the desks may need to be completely emptied out and tipped to move to another area.
