Steam Line Replacement

The Physical Plant received approval and funding for the final phase of replacing the buried steam line on campus. The first phase dates back to 1992, which replaced the steam line on the north side of campus. This phase completed over 2.2 miles of buried steam lines, which consisted of direct buried lines and lines in tunnels. The average life expectancy of the new steam line is 40 years. EAPC was the engineering firm and Lunseth was the general contractor. The project cost was approximately $1,295,420.

Stadium and Track Renovation

The renovation of the Earl "Skip" Bute Alumni Stadium and Frank Vertin Football Field and Track finally became a reality in the summer of 2007. This project was a joint effort from NDSCS, NDSCS Foundation, Wahpeton School District and the Wahpeton Community. Comstock Construction was the general contractor assisted by the North Dakota National Guard Innovative Readiness Training Unit. The project consisted of a new track surface, storm drain replacement and new stadium seating and corridors. The project cost was just under $1,600,000. Interstate Engineering, Inc. was the engineering firm.

5th Street Sanitary Sewer
Storm Sewer and Water Line Replacement

During the steam line replacement project, NDSCS had the opportunity to replace the sanitary sewer and water lines since the streets were already dug up. This ultimately saved the college money by paving and replacing the road only once. The water and sewer lines were both original and greatly deteriorated. In addition, to the deteriorated lines, the street had poor water drainage. To alleviate this problem, additional storm drains were added and the road was sloped during the rebuild. The project cost was approximately $375,000. Interstate Engineering, Inc. was the engineering firm and Riley Bros Construction, Inc. was the general contractor.

Nanoscience Laboratory Installation
Skills and Technology Training Center - STTC, Fargo, ND

The contractors included Grant's Mechanical (mechanical), Scott's Electric (electrical) and Gast Construction (general). EAPC Architects Engineers was the engineering firm. The estimated completion date of the project is May 2008. The estimated project costs is $200,000.
