Athletic and Recreation Facilities
The Clair T. Blikre Activities Center houses the Ed Werre Arena, home for men’s and women’s basketball teams and women’s volleyball. Other facilities include an auxiliary gym, dance studio, weight room and wellness center, classrooms, swimming pool, four racquetball courts and an indoor eight-lane track.
Staff offices for intramural, varsity athletics and physical education also are located in the building. The adjacent Frank Vertin Field and the recreation athletic complex facilities offer a lighted football field, six outdoor tennis courts, eight softball diamonds and four practice football fields.
Recreation and intramural athletics are among the most popular activities for students. Varsity athletic teams compete within the National Junior College Athletic Association and qualify for national tournaments through NJCAA Region XIII competition.
Music, Drama and Alumni Facilities
The privately-funded Ella Stern and Harry Stern Cultural Center has been designed specifically for the practice, performance and enjoyment of the fine arts. As a part of the full college atmosphere, these music and drama facilities are centrally located on the campus. The 35,000-square-feet building features a 500-seat, semi-circular open theater auditorium using the latest sound and lighting technology. Public performances of college and community music and drama events often draw large audiences.
The Adolph and Nina Torguson Auditorium features the Madeline McCleary Stage, a thrust stage surrounded by an orchestra pit with a scene shop and an upper fly loft for storage of sets behind the stage. Drama rehearsal and dressing room facilities are located in the lower level.
The attached Joseph B. and Della Stern Music Center offers vocal and instrumental music practice facilities and staff offices. A triangular-shaped Lambert M. Huppeler Foyer is an ideal setting for relaxation and receptions.
Located adjacent to the Lambert Huppeler Foyer are the offices of the Alumni Association and NDSCS Foundation. Alumni records are maintained here as well as NDSCS Foundation financial data. News of alumni, address changes, charitable gifts and other correspondence relative to alumni relations should be directed here.
The Alumni/Foundation office can be contacted by 1-800-342-4325, ext. 3-2247 or 3-2131.
