Dropping or Adding Courses/Changing Curriculums
Students desiring to drop or to add classes or to change curriculums should obtain the approval of the division dean, advisor and the instructor. Appropriate forms are available in the division dean’s offices.
Students should review the current academic calendar for specific drop and add dates.
A grade of “F” will be recorded for any course not formally dropped.
Under no circumstances are students permitted to change curriculums without first obtaining permission from the division dean.
A change in registration may affect your financial aid. In order to fulfill financial aid requirements, a student must successfully complete 67 percent of the attempted courses. Check with the Enrollment Services office for any changes resulting in a change of schedule or dropping to the status of part-time student.
Refunds on Class Changes
Any student who drops a class before 9 percent of the period of enrollment for the class is completed shall receive a 100 percent refund of tuition and fees for the credit hours attributable to the class or classes dropped. After 9 percent of the period of enrollment for a class is completed, no refund shall be made for a class which is dropped. However, classes of the same number of credits may be substituted for the dropped class at no additional tuition and fee charge, unless the added class requires a special fee or change in tuition. If adding classes results in any change in number of credit hours or if an added class requires a special course fee or additional tuition charge, the institution shall charge the student for the additional credits and any special course fee or tuition. Institution refund procedures shall include provisions governing allocation or repayment of refunds for dropped classes.
Auditing Courses
A student may wish to take a course for no credit. This is completed by auditing the course. A student whom wishes to enroll in a course as an “audit” must seek prior consent from the instructor. To earn an audit, the student is not required to complete daily assignments or take examinations; however is expected to maintain satisfactory attendance in order to have an “AU” recorded on the transcript. While a student cannot fail an audit course, an instructor may file a “W” (withdrawn) for non-attendance. A student may not later establish credit in an audited course by taking a special examination; the course must be repeated in residence to earn credits. Additionally, auditing a course will not be used to satisfy a prerequisite for another course. A course initially registered as an audit will be charged 50 percent of tuition. A student may drop a graded course and add it as an audit. This must be completed by the last day to drop a course for the semester. If this change is completed after the seventh instructional day of the semester (or after the fourth instructional day of an eight-week course), there will be no refund.
A student may drop a graded course and add it as an audit. This must be completed by the last day to drop a course for the semester. If this change is completed after the first 8.99% of an 8-week or 16-week course, there will be no refund.
Financial aid is not awarded for audited coursework for full- or part-time status.
